Vector Atomic is hiring Vapor Cell Engineers to build ultraprecise quantum devices for applications including autonomous/GPS-free navigation, high-bandwidth satellite communications, and geophysical exploration. In this hands-on role, you'll contribute to the full lifecycle, from conceptual design to deployment. We are seeking strong individual contributors that take ownership of their work while supporting overall team goals. What You’ll Do

  • Work with a team of physicists and engineers on sensor designs from concept to implementation
  • Design and construct a system for filling atomic vapor cells
  • Fabricate vapor cells and characterize their contents, with particular focus on atomic density and residual gas concentrations
  • Incorporate atomic vapor cells in sensors and quantitatively assess their performance
  • Support sensor integration, bring-up, and optimization
  • Analyze atomic sensor performance and environmental sensitivities

Requirements

  • PhD in atomic, optical, quantum physics, or 3+ years of related experience
  • US citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) required by US export control laws

Hands-on expertise with several of the following:

  • Gas purification and/or gas-handling manifolds
  • Optical cell fabrication by means of glassblowing, optical contact bonding, or other techniques
  • Atomic vapor cell filling and characterization
  • Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems
  • Quantum sensor and atomic clock technologies
  • Characterization of atomic sensor performance and drift
  • Atomic source technologies
  • Precision spectroscopy
  • Mechanical design (CAD)

This position requires more than 80% onsite work. Vector Atomic adheres to all state and local ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety protocols.
