Apton Biosystems is a biotechnology instrumentation platform company pioneering super- resolution imaging to provide the world’s most-dense DNA sequencing and single molecule detection.

We seek a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our R&D team as

Responsibilities

a Research Associate.

The successful candidate will contribute the development of our sequencing workflow,

reagents and consumables, and production scalability. She/he will contribute to the

development of sequencing biochemistry and instrument operation.

• Prepare reagents and run sequencing instruments to support the development of our sample preparation and sequencing biochemistry

  • Maintain laboratory documentation in a complete, consistent, and concise manner
  • Assist with lab organization and maintenance
  • Assist with documentation and tech transfer to manufacturing
  • Participate in multidisciplinary projects and collaborate with surface chemists,

hardware and software engineers, and analysis teams to improve in-house

sequencing performance

• QC and prepare internal R&D samples for sequencing

  • QC and prepare customer samples for sequencing
  • This is a hands-on position with 80% time on lab work and 20% on data analysis and
  • documentation

Qualifications:

• BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related life science field with 3+ years of work experience in biotechnology or life science research and development or MS

with 1+ years of work experience

• Proficient in standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as PCR,

quantitative PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction and purification

  • Good lab record keeping and organization skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly motived, can-do attitude
  • Desire to learn and grow, to be part of a rapidly growing and changing organization
  • Experience in NGS sequencing or NGS library preparation a plus
  • Experience in biotech start-up a plus
